What is Story SOS?

Story SOS is a focused one-to-one coaching session for fiction writers who need help untangling one specific story problem.

​

Before we meet, you’ll complete a short questionnaire telling me about your story and where you’re stuck. That means we can use our hour properly: identifying the real problem, talking through your options, and deciding on the most useful way forward.

​

You don’t need to have finished your manuscript. You don’t even need to know exactly what’s wrong. “Something isn’t working and I can’t see it anymore” is a perfectly good place to start.

  • A plot that feels episodic or flat

  • A protagonist who isn’t driving the story

  • A middle that has lost momentum

  • Character motivation that doesn’t quite add up

What Story SOS isn’t

Story SOS is designed for one focused story problem. It isn’t a manuscript evaluation, and I won’t read pages or a full draft in advance.

If we discover during the session that the problem is larger than we can reasonably solve in an hour, I’ll tell you what I think the next step should be. There’s no obligation to book anything else with me.
